It’s so great that you have embraced the wheelchair. In my brief times in a chair, I found the attention uncomfortable. Just being in the chair had its own complex emotions about being “disabled enough”.
It’s taken me 15 years to find some semblance of peace with the wheelchair. The attention in certain situations is still too much to handle and definitely brings up complex emotions for me too. It’s frustrating how attention from others can make us so self-conscious sometimes.
